Loud clinking noise from front end?
The best way I can describe the sound is taking a metal puddy knife and sticking it into a high speed metal shop fan. Its a really fast clinking noise, It only lasts about 2-5 seconds and usually occurs at slow speeds like backing out of the driveway, parking, turning at stop signs etc. I haven't ever heard it while driving out on main roadways. It happens most often when I finish backing out of the drive way and shift into 1st.
I just started teaching myself to work on engines, so even though it may be obvious I'm not really sure where to look first. I'd appreciate any tips on what to look for and how to troubleshoot the issue. Thanks!
I checked was the shroud and it looked fine the other day. After your suggestion I went out and double checked to be safe it and noticed that the bottom of it was secured with zip ties by the previous owner, They had essentially sawed through the shroud bolt holes and it was loose. Anyways thanks a lot for at least getting me to double check.
