Should I be concerned?

Haven't owned a truck in about 10 years, but I'm really feeling the itch to get one again.

Spotted a 2014 F-150 XLT with 15,000 miles at my local lot. I gotta couple concerns though. Since I've been outa the truck scene for awhile, I was hoping somebody here could help me.

First, in the vehicle's description they mention that their service department has installed a leveling kit. What is that and what does it do?

Second, it says they've installed brand new tires. 15,000 miles and new tires? WTF?

Anybody got any thoughts on what is going on here?

A leveling kit raises the front of the truck to match the rear. It's a "poor mans" lift, and makes the truck have less or no rake.

The tires could have been due to an alignment issue in the truck's past or even due to multiple tire failures. You'll likely never know why.

Not at all, some people just like the look of a level truck. The rake has more to do with what the rear suspension is setup for.

I wouldn't be too concerned, though I'd have the leveling kit removed (not a fan). The leveling kit is usually nothing more than a spacer placed under or on top of the coil spring.
As for new tires, the OEM tires aren't known for their longevity to begin with. If the replacements aren't junk, I'd consider new ones to be a bonus.

I would not be concerned about those two things at ask. That being said as I'm sure you know still have it checked out by your trusted mechanic. When I was looking at trucks I took one for a test drive and checked it out and noticed the transmission fluid dip stick was missing, when I had mechanic check it he said the transmission was bad.. Hints why the removed it so people couldn't check it, very shady..

But yes most people like leveled trucks, and its very easy and cheap to do so Lots of dealerships do it to their trucks to help sell them. I lifted my truck but if it's not lifted a level is nice, also allows for slightly bigger tires.
They most likely put new tires on it to make it look nicer also, might have even went up a size from factory? Those are really the two most common things for dealers to do, it really helps the looks of the truck, they usually put on a more aggressive looking tread than factory also..
Did you end up buying it, or you still looking?
