Hello. I don't know much about Fords in April of last year I purchased a 2010 F150 STX 2WD, The majority of my family drive Chevrolet and were a bIt disappointed when I purchased this truck. So now I'm wanting to get a leveling kit or lift kit and some Nitto Mudd Grappler tires but don't know anyone who knows about Fords, I'm more than pleased with my truck, Can anyone help? Would anyone recommend I add a lift kit or just level it out.. And if I level it out what are the biggest tire I can fit? I would like a big kinda wide tire. Open to suggestions & advice. Thank you in advance.
My advice, and you can take it or leave it is, if you just want it to sit level (or more level with a slight amount of rake so the rear does not squat under load) then a leveling kit will do fine so long as you don't overdo it because too tall of a spacer can cause the steering knuckle to rub on your front coils. If you want more height, then you probably would want to go with a lift kit that will maintain the factory front suspension geometry and just add height.
Does the leveling kit and adding bigger tires affect the ride of the truck?
I can't comment about tire size, mine are original size.
I do notice a little bit of a difference in the front end suspension after the level kit install. Only notice it when pulling into a parking lot where theres a change in elevation etc. I would describe it as a softer feel to the front end. It's not a big difference and I enjoy it.
I'm going to be adding a few pictures here in a moment so check back.
Also I've added the Airade cool air intake. The only difference I notice since adding this is the sound. It sound great, and at 3500 RPMs the sound peaks and reverberates inside the cab pretty nicely. So if you're into that sorta thing...
If you go with Mud Grapplers and a leveling kit, pick up some ear plugs too.
I don't mind the noise from most mud terrains, but Mud Grapplers give me a freaking head ache.I don't blame you for wanting them though, they are a mean looking tire.
I'd have to buy wheels, I don't want to purchase the tires & leave the stock rims on then later decide I'd better get wheels, so I'm just going to purchase both wheels & tires..
I did a 2.5" leveling kit and I have 325/60/R18 tires. I know there is a guy on here that is running 35" Mudd Grapplers on his stock 20" rims and he says the only rubbing he has is at full lock.
Thanks for the info! I've looked at a leveling lift kit on roughcountry.com and it comes with shocks & u-bolts I'm assuming for the rear and also the parts needed to level the front, but do I need the shocks & u bolts? If so what are they for? I'm a bit confused...
