Hi, I am new to all of this. I just bought a 1950 Ford F3 restoration project and was looking for advice on where to go for parts on the Internet and actual stores/junkyards. Thanks
I will be selling or parting out my 48. Near perfect cab and front clip. I'll be putting my stake bed on it and short running boards.
I wanted a pickup bed on my F3. I bought it with a stake bed. If you are anywhere near Tucson it will be available. Pretty green in your pics. Doesn't look anything like the desert I live in.
LMC Truck, Mac's, Bob Drake, and many other places sell parts.
If I lived closer (I'm in Michigan) I would have loved to stop and look. Things here rust really bad and finding fenders and running boards is a near impossible task. Thank you for the websites

Where in Michigan are you located? I'm in Northville. PM me and maybe I can help.
I'm a little ways south of Lansing. I couldn't figure out how to pm you. I've been looking in Macs and LMC catalogues. The truck needs a lot of tlc but I'm excited.
Based upon the pictures that you posted I would say the first thing that you need to do is get your truck up out of the dirt so that you can assess what it needs. Here are a few thoughts:
Are there any axles in the truck and what condition are they?
You will need floorboards. I have found the best place to get then is Northern Classic Trucks in Sterling Hts.
You will probably need a LF fender. The rivet patch is probably hiding something bad.
Once you get it up you will need to check the bottom of the cab corners. By the time you check it out if it is too bad Scotty 52's cab out of Arizona might be a cheaper alternative. You can get a quote from Uship. It would be a partial load so it might not be too bad.
What does the frame condition look like? Are all the mounting brackets and cross members in good shape?
What condition is the box? It is hard to tell from the picture but it looks like an F1 box . . . which really isn't a problem as that is what I have on my F2. I can show you what modifications you can consider.
The engine looks unmolested but will it turn freely?

I have a good clean cab from the F2 I brought home from Minnesota. The truck originated from Idaho and is relatively rust free. The front fenders (which are the same as the F3) are not perfect but they are much better than the ones on the F3 in the picture. And the good thing is that I'm in Milford, MI which is not too far from Lansing. Just down I96 a bit. I also sent you my contact info via email since I cannot PM you. I'm guessing you are too new yet for PM privileges.
Richarc.2016, you're already seeing what a great forum this is. Look at the offers to help you are already getting. Get some more posts in so you can PM these guys.
I am sad to say that I have been told that my truck is to far gone and is a no go. I am getting rid off it and will continue to look for a better one. Thank you all for the posts and advice. It is all good stuff. If anyone has something in better shape that is a 3/4 ton around the fifties, please email me. Deere.hockey20@yahoo.com I am located near Lansing Michigan
I don't know how far you're willing to travel to get one. I found quite a few on CL in Kansas and Ok. when I was looking for a bed.
There was recently a really nice 48-50 in Kansas that I tried to get the bed off. The seller said it was too nice of a truck to sell just the bed and he was right.
The bigger trucks seem to be plentiful in farm country. Nebraska, Kansas, Dakota's.
The one I have is not complete but has excellent sheet metal. As hard as it is to find parts for F2's and F3's, you're better off finding a complete truck. Good luck with your search.

Richard, Don't get rid of that truck yet. I sent you a email.
Why do you want a ¾ ton? Nothing wrong with that (I have one) but they made significantly more ½ tons.
Here is a Mercury M-1 (M-47?). If the engine is original it would be the larger, desirable Merc engine. The current bid is $1,825 which is a great price if the reserve is anywhere near that. It is in Pembina, North Dakota but the owner says that he will ship it. Uship worked for me too.
I just want a 3/4 ton because I like the little bit bigger trucks. I want the truck to be nice looking but I still want to be able to use it as a truck and I just think 1/2 ton is too small. Just what I like I suppose. I still want a 3/4 or 1 ton from the fifties. Exploring options now. I'm 17 and don't know how far I would be willing to go. Thank you guys for all the help and advice though. I hope since I said I'm 17 I don't get the common "oh ****, it's another dumb, rude teenager" reaction. Again, thank you.
