Donor vehicle
The parts gathering phase for my 40 tonner panel just took a great leap. 4 banger scout with 3.54 gears. Plan is to use axles and power steering. Might front stub it but I'll need to do some measuring before I decide that.

That will make a pretty straightforward swap. I did some measuring in that regard with my scout, but I just sold it to my stepson. He is in business falling and topping trees and having a covered vehicle 4wd for his climbing equipment and saws was needed. We have 6 kids between us, and he's the only gearhead, so I enable him.... The b4 banger should make it a nice fit in the v8 radiator position. Isn't the 152, a half of a v8 as far as pistons and rods etc? Tough vehicles for sure.

The later 4 bangers are 196 but I won't be using it. Plans are for a 6.2 diesel with turbo and 700R4 tranny. For 3 reasons, it's all free, mileage should be mid 20s and still enough torque to do some towing. If I had the $$ it would be a 4BT, and who knows, maybe one will come my way affordable before I get to that stage.
