I thought I did see some issue but I can't seem to find a link. Only thing I've found is when you do an oil change, pop the oil cartridge a bit let the oil drain back into the block, then drain the oil and wait about 5 minutes or so for all of it to be out. When you add the 6 quarts of oil into the engine wait about 10+ minutes as per owner's manual before you check the level. Last thing you want to do is have 1/2-1 quart or more of oil in the engine and you start having issues.

Hope it doesn't end up with problems because I may buy a truck with the 2.7 EB in the future.
I have 25k on my XLT EB Crew with no problems. The engine has a staggering amount of power for a 2.7. Averaging 21 mph unloaded driving. My only concern right now is the frequent cycling of the starter with the start/stop feature. Not sure if we will be replacing more starters over the life of the truck. I wish the start stop feature defaulted to off. I frequently forget to shut it off (i don't use it much for the previously stated concern. Also, I hate the idea of a plastic drain pan and plug for the oil system. Seems like a really bad idea on a car let alone a 4×4 truck.

The 6.7L Powerstroke Diesel had a composite oil pan for the 2011-2012 model years. I don't recall ever hearing of any issues from them. For that matter, every Detroit Diesel Series 60 under the hood of semi trucks made since the mid-1980s has had a plastic oil pan.

Nothing to worry about, composite oil pans are nothing new.

Wow, thought this was a new thing to save weight. Good to know, thanks.

Does anyone have the 2.7 eco in a crew cab truck? Does the extra weight of that cab configuration hurt the performance of the truck any?

2015 scab with 2.7. 36500 trouble free miles. I don't see why everyone complains about the auto stop start. It's only one button to push. People pound the crap out of their phone everyday sending messages. No one ever complains about that.

Of course the extra weight hurts performance...power to weight is simple math. Doesn't mean the truck is underpowered, though. Most tests show the 2.7L faster to 60 MPH than the 3.5L EB.

My '15 SuperCrew 4x4 is lighter than a '14 regular cab Tremor edition.

I had a 2016 crew cab for a test drive. It had a higher rear axle gear ratio than my 2015 super cab. I didn't notice any difference in power between the two. Might be a little bit harder on gas, but probably not by much difference. Dealer said the crew cabs were heavier so most of the ones they had on the lot had the higher gear ratio.

We bought our 15 Edge on 12/31/16 with a 180 miles on it and now with 2025 miles on it now. Let me say this edge moves, and I don't mine the start/stop ignition either.

about a 250mile drive from where i live. That little motor does not even break a sweat. Climbing up the hills, you do not even feel it struggling.
The 2.7 EB is very strong. I avg 22.5 @ 75mph

And whats funny, when i'm cruising up the hills @75-80mph, the V8 trucks that
I pass up are all at high Rev's, try to hold speed. Not knocking V8s, but just love the low end Torq. of those little turbo's
Always run 91 Oct.
thanks, I wondering about the 6" lift. I have 32s on mine but wanted to do a 6" lift and get 35s but wasn't sure if it was going to hurt my performance.

hi guys, new here.just reading all the posts of the white or blue smoke, I have a 2016 2.7 which I noticed blue smoke on start up last week, two days later I brought it into ford and they took it right away, and are replacing the whole top end " long block " told me if it had engine lights they would replace the whole motor, not really happy with the problem...BUT.... they are replacing what needs to be done, still a happy customer, love the truck

I've replaced three engines so far for this exact concern.
