I have a 97 - F150, 5-speed trans. About 3.5 to 4 years ago – just over the warranty the check engine light came on. I brought it to ford and they had to reprogram the CPU. Well 1 year later – just past the warranty the light magically came on again. A local mechanic checked it out and received an error message that indicated, “The park natural switch is not engaged.” ON A 5-SPEED?
The mechanic checked with a friend who works for ford and he said it’s not possible. Other then waiting for the light to burn out – it’s to complicated to get under the dash and pop it out – any suggestions?
Thanks JC
Usually that code means that the tech who scanned the system didnt have the clutch pushed in while scanning.
There should also be a memory stored. I would have it rescanned and see what comes up.
