Ran fine when I parked but now has gremlins after sitting for 6 months.
Doesn't seem like enough power getting to ignition.
If I jump it across solenoid it turns over easily and fast, but as soon as I turn the key on while I'm jumping it across solenoid it quits turning over.
There is power getting to the ignition but barley. The horn squeaks and the blower motor barley turns.
Tried running a wire from battery to coil but same thing once it was hooked it wouldn't turn over while jumping across solenoid , take wire off and it spins over fine?
Corrosion. Rust never sleeps, now is a good time to replace those vintage electrical cables and ground straps. You'll be glad you did. Grind the block, frame, and firewall connections and mating surfaces down to bright shiny metal and tighten securely.
Next make sure solenoid is grounded securely to firewall through the brackets and connecting hardware.
