Led Headlight bulbs 2005 expy

Anyone have led as headlight bulbs? If so, which ones did you go with? I just ordered these,
Amazon.com: OPT7 LED Headlight Bulbs w/ Clear Arc-Beam Kit - 9006 - 60w 7,000Lm 6K Cool White CREE - 2 Yr Warranty: Automotive Amazon.com: OPT7 LED Headlight Bulbs w/ Clear Arc-Beam Kit - 9006 - 60w 7,000Lm 6K Cool White CREE - 2 Yr Warranty: Automotive

No im not affiliated with the bulbs or seller.. Ive been running kensun 55 watt hid for a couple of years now and gotta say, im fed up with hid. Its just a hassle with aftermarket hid kits.. I'll post hid and led night shots this week to see the comparison. I also ordered led for the fogs as well.

I don't see anything that indicates they are dual brightness. To be street legal your headlights have to have a low and high.

The '05 doesn't have high/low bulbs. The outer reflector is low beam only and the inner reflector is high beam only.

Ok, so the verdict is in. I would say its 20 or 30% brighter than my hids and far less blueish color. Less blue the better as far as im concerned.

HID: (Headlights and fogs)
Now i should say, my hids were scattered all over the road and most likely blinding the crap out of everyone. 5000k kensun 55 watt kit that still had a blueish tint to them. My auto headlights were finicky at best, even with me running a dedicated power with a relay. Still occasionally only one headlight would come on. I miss not being able to use my auto headlights. Also my 5000k kensun 35 watt fogs always look a different shade of blue from left to right and don't match the color of the headlights even though they are the same color temp. I tried replacement bulbs and they even sent replacement ballasts. no luck

LED: (Headlights, fogs and front rear parking/tail lamp turn signals).
Much much brighter than my HIDS which was surprising. Scattered light is far better but the light is brighter and much more blinding. The light has no noticeable tints of blue. My auto headlights work perfectly. Its a no hassle installation, plug and play. Lower power consumption. Longer life more reliable than HIDs (this cant be confirmed yet, just a theory). Being LED, they look really cool (as long as your not directly in front of them being blinded). The LED parking and tail lamps look awesome (also much brighter than stock incandescent).

The conclusion:
Ordered projector housings..... To be continued...

HID

LED

Seems like the LED pattern is less defined, do they blind oncoming traffic? I really dont like headlight mods like the chinese HID stuff which blinds the heck out of oncoming traffic, which is why I only recommend getting HID projectors if you want to retrofit it. The reflector on the headlights are designed for halogen bulbs which has all the light in one spot, while LEDs and HIDs has the light source in a much wider and bigger area which throws off the focal point of the reflector...

Agreed about the projectors.. I really should have had them with the hids too. In these current reflective housings, the led is far more blinding yes. I know adjustment would help some but how much?
I was never crazy about the way projector housings look on our vehicles but im giving it a try. Blacked out projector housings on a black expy shouldn't look that out of place. Its got the cheapo halo rings built inside, not sure if ill use them.. We'll see. Ill be sure to post projector pics.

These are the housings that i ordered,

Yeah, I've seen those and not really into them. I like better the retrofit projectors that can be mounted inside the original headlight, alternatively I think this one is a little nicer

Though I always liked the 3rd gen aftermarket lights better, or even the F150 ones... The choices for the 2nd gen Expy isn't that good, unless you just modify the OEM headlights..

I like more this type, but with an added projector:

Funny, those i especially don't like because they look too flashy.. All a matter of opinion. I currently have blacked out reflector housings that look 10x better than factory (only because its a black truck). They are only a year old like new and up for grabs if these projectors work out for me.

Personally, I think the black housings looks best on white or black trucks. Any other color, then I think it's best to stick with chrome. The ones you currently have is the OEM ones with black bezel? How much are you asking for them, if they go up for sale? (My truck is white... )

If im happy with the projectors, probably $50 plus shipping. They are not OEM. They look just like OEM with black bezel. Eagle eyes. same as these

Ok, I might be interested as I am actually looking to replace mine, got kind of scratched up glass on the original ones.

Send me a PM once you decide if you're gonna sell or not

Projectors Installed

Ok so installed my projector headlights today after work and they completely exceeded my expectations in every way. They're keepers for sure.

General appearance
Honestly when ordering, i gave it a 50/50 chance that i would even keep them. However after installed at first glance, they don't really seem to look too aftermarkety which is a good thing. The blacked out housings work well with overall appearance of a black truck which is what i was hoping for. The Halo rings (which i really didn't care about) are a nice touch and look pretty sick at night without being too extreme. During the day, they are not so bright to be noticeable but no big deal (again, didn't buy them for the halos so if anything, its a bonus to have em). I wired the halos to work as drls but also to illuminate with the courtesy lights when you unlock from the key-fob. There are also 3 additional leds at the top of the housings that run horizontally. I didnt hook them up, will test them at night to see if its worth doing so.

Headlight output
Its literally a no brainer that these are the solution to scattered light even before i made my adjustments this evening. The difference is night and day. They needed adjusting but no issues at all with that. The adjustment is very accessible and easy to use. Plenty of white light. They are not blinding in any way whatsoever even standing directly in front of the truck.

Parking / turn signals
Ok so if you notice in the daytime pics, the parking light lenses are wide open clear with an orange reflector on the side. Instead of having an amber only led bulb, i will use led amber/white switchbacks instead. Meaning white parking lights and when turn signal is on, they will blink amber. I think it will be a nice touch rather than seeing an amber parking light on at all times.
