2014 crewcab lariat 4x4. Here is the question. This is only when I'm backing
it up and only after putting truck back in drive do I get the steering wheel whine. It sounds as if it is low on fluid. Only last for a seconds or two. Could this be the start of a steering problem or possibly a brake issue? Just throwing
this out there. Any suggestions would be great.

Hi cullenkyla,
Since you're concerned, I'd make an appointment to have your dealership inspect. It sounds like you can replicate the whine pretty easily; see if you can take your tech on a test drive so you can demonstrate it for them. How many miles are on your truck?
Saw from your other thread that you have an EcoBoost truck. If that's still true you don't have a conventional power steering system, it's an electric motor that provides your steering assist. Definitely not low on fluid, but they can still fail. A very pricey fix if you're out of warranty.
Still under warranty about 3000 left. Did drop it off at the dealership said they could not duplicate it. And I do have the Ecoboost. Just wondering when they look for the problem how much time do they typically spend on it

Thanks for following up, cullenkyla. You might want to consider getting a second opinion at a different Ford Dealership. Find one near you by entering your ZIP code here: Ford Dealers | Locate a Ford Dealer Near You | Ford.com As I mentioned before, I'd recommend taking the tech on a test drive so you can show them what you're experiencing. If you'd like, I can arrange for your regional customer service manager (CSM) to give you a call. PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and preferred servicing dealership; I'll do the rest.
