Well I decided on replacing the fusible link and that went fine but low and behold she won't start so I am going to assume that I don't have spark. Any suggestions where to start my electrical testing? Maybe coil first?
P.S. The replaced fusible link didn't blow again when I tried to start it today👍
Got a test light? use it on various points you know should have power. Try at the ignition coil to see if it gets around 8volts. check uhm, stuff... dang it's hard to diagnose electric over the internet
I love electrics myself and would be all over this if in person.

Likewise. It's like trying to teach the tango.... verbally.
Now, someone could develop a troubleshooting tree using Boolean logic for a no-start condition. I hope that's not over yallz heads.

Thanks guys,
I have test equipment just need to get familiar with the systems involved. Since I have been fooling with this truck for some time now I do know that the plugs are good, plug wires are good and that it ran fine before the fusible burnt. I am going to check a plug for spark tomorrow as my girl will be here to turn the key while I check for spark.
Figure I would give an update since everyone was kind enough to reply to my post. I got up this morning and started doing some testing. Started with power to coil checked good. Tested coil resistance and didn't have any so waited for the girl to get up so I could be positive that I didn't have spark. No spark! Got a new coil checked for resistance before install. Had resistance so known good coil installed but still no spark. Got a new ignition unit, installed it and bam she is a running once again👍👍👍👍👍. Thanks for the insights all, much appreciated👌. Maybe the bad ignition unit made getting through DEQ a problem but we will have to see this coming week!
