To Bryan's point, mine too kicks in when ect's get to 219. Normally the "turbo prop" will only run for 10-15 seconds max before shutting back down and I see an immediate drop in ect's down to 210-215.
Speed doesn't seem to have any effect on its operation, simply temps.

At the lower temps, specifically with a/c on the fan will ramp up until 50 mph and then commanded off. The 217 temp spec is independent of vehicle speed.

It isn't on mine. If that temp hits 217, the fan ramps to full rpm. It's the same if I'm travelling 65 or 20.

You certainly misread what I wrote.

That's exactly what was written.

With a/c on the engine fan is commanded to all sorts of weird behavior, but below 217 and above 50mph the fan is usually commanded to 0%.

On my XLT the fan behavior is completely different on Normal A/C versus Max A/C.

Agreed. Mine will go to 100% at idle with the AC going (FSS ~850rpm). As you drive off it quickly unlocks the clutch back to 0%. This takes a second and you hear a slight whine as the rpm's climb. Does this independent of ECT (typically it's 190-195 driving unloaded).

This really helps the AC work properly as it keeps the airflow up across the condenser. My 02 F150 didn't do this and the AC would stop working as well in stop-go traffic after a while. F250 stays nice and cool, even if it's 105F outside.
