These past few days my truck has died off and on when I accelerate or once when I came to a stop at a four way intersection. Today it died then came back on. I tried spraying the old fuel filter out which is still nasty and playing with the timing and carb but when I went to leave my school it died once pulling out. Any help would be appreciated please.
When the motor quits what does it feel like? Is it a fuel problem or an ignition problem? A fuel problem will feel like running out of gas and an ignition problem will cause missing, popping, and shutting off like you'd turned off the key.
What you describe sounds a little like my recent coil problem. Ran fine cold but once it warmed up it would cut out under moderate acceleration. Replaced coil and was good to go.

The first time it died completely and i had to start it up again but when i was adjusting the carb whenever i ran it it seem to be starving for fuel. Whenever it died it did sound like a popping sound before it died. Spark Plugs maybe? Plus my idle is set at 500ish rpm right now.

Reason: Forgot
If it's an automatic I'd say your idle should be 800 or 900 RPM in Park and 650 700 in gear.
I still wonder if you have an ignition problem versus a fuel problem but I'm not the best at interwebs diagnostics. I'm more of a replace stuff till its fixed kind of guy.
For example: if your fuel filter, spark plugs, cap, rotor and wires are old I'd replace them since it should be done periodically anyway, even though I don't think they are your problem. Problems with Cap, rotor, wires, and plugs will cause ignition misses and rough idle but shouldn't cause the motor to up and quit randomly.
If you have an ohm meter you can check the resistance values of your ignition coil and dizzy pick up but be sure to check them both cold and hot. If they don't measure up, replace them. A bad coil or dizzy pick up will definitely cause the motor to up and quit, especially after its warmed up to operating temp. Same goes for the Duraspark ignition control module.
In my experience carburetor problems will cause hard starts, poor idle, and flooding. Bad fuel lines, bad fuel pump, or plugged fuel filter will cause the carb to run out of gas.
So if it starts okay, and seems to run okay for a while, and then craps out when it's warm, I'd look at the ignition side first before digging into the carb.
The Motorcraft 2150 carb relies on clean fuel delivery. To start with, replace the fuel filter. It wouldn't hurt to run some carb cleaner through it. What is your experience with engines?

Don't mess with what ain't broke....timing, etc..Replace the fuel filter instead of cleaning it.... then go from there.
Thanks everyone so much I appreciate this since im in high school and have little knowledge I ended up replacing the fuel filter and it seemed to be fine so far. It hasnt died since so o belive it is fixed now.
