well, same thing as a FIPK bassically, but for trucks that dont have mass air... it replaces the air box (open element), the two tubes connect to the cone rather than the one tube with mass air...

anyways, anyone use one?

anything (good or bad) anyone ccan tell me is muchly appreciated

thanks

anyone w/o mass air use a K&N AirCharger ?

well i decided to get one!
when i got my engine bored the mechanic told me it was dusted... either the paper filter in the airbox sucked or the K&N filter i replaced the paper filter with sucked or air got by the filter (i think air got by the filter)... so i wanted to eliminate the airbox entirely...
so i got this K&N AirCharger... noticed a bit of an improvement (big improvement from a paper filter, bit of an improvement from the K&N panel filter... rpm range is a bit higher and it sounds great when you step on it!
now i'm thinking of maybe (not right away) getting two intense performance bigmouth filters to replace this K&N cone filter (two tubes connect to the cone (speed density)...
i know it wont match mass air but i cant get mass air anytime soon as it will cost me roughly $1,500.00 CAD - which i need for a dana 60 front end.

i just wanted to see if anyone has any opinions or suggestions.

thanks

I put one on my 93SC 5.8/3.55

Ran 5 tests 0-60 with just my Gibson swept side
Averaged 9.5

Ran 6 test after I put the K&N on
Averaged 9.0

An idea instead of buying two cone filters is to go to an exhaust shop and have them weld you a "Y" that fits into the two tubes and converts it to one larger tube. I would suggest getting the "Y" tube cut from whatever the intake hose size is to a singe 3.5" outlet. That way if you ever switch to Mass air the 3.5" filter will still work!!!

I agree with brett_d that a y-adapter would save the filter for a later mass-air conversion! If you want to see how the speed density fipk from K&N looks like, check out my page (sig).

I put a FIPK on last summer and I can't complain. It roars when I step on it and the acceleration is much better. Decent milage improvement too. Well worth the $$$ I spent on it. Good Luck.
