I just picked up a 79, F250 Ranger XLT from the original owner. 93k miles. Truck is in great shape but in getting it cleaned up I realized that the center duct (factory a/c) is completely shot. The wire is good but all of the paper has disintegrated and fallen off. I have found 1 NOS part on eBay but don't know if it's worth $75. The part number is D3TZ-19B680-B. ( I think). I don't think it matters but the truck is a 460 automatic 2WD. So two questions: 1) has anyone been able to find a decent way to restore that part? 2) Are there subsitute or aftermarket ducts that work?
I hate having something on the truck that doesn't work and that I can't get parts for! Any help or advice is appreciated. I'm sure I'll have more questions to follow. Also, I do have the shop manuals on CD and can try to look up diagrams and such if needed.

There's no substitute, but the center duct is the same 1973/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco with factory installed integral A/C or with Hi/Lo Comfort Vent System.
D3TZ-19B680-B = No Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

i am surprised that these flexible ducts are so hard to come by...you'd think LMC or someone else would have aftermarket reproductions of these things... I am scared to death to even touch the one in my truck..would probably turn to dust....truck sat for over a decade in Yuma, AZ..
Mine was shot from being a mouse house, but I was lucky and found one that I repaired with fabric tape. Since then, when I'm around a pull a part I keep an eye open for them. Anyway, if you need one after all this, I've got 2 spares and was going to ebay it but if anyone on here needs one, pm me.
