Steering linkage question:

I have a 2x4 75 F250. Where the drag link attaches to the center link there is a thick spacer or bushing with a metal cup washer on one side. I'm assuming it sits between the two, with the metal side facing the center link?

I can't find a diagram that shows that detail. Thanks.

I just checked on my 73 F250 and my 76 F100, both 2wd and the rubber bushing is against the drag link with the metal washer against the inner tie rod.

Thanks Sam! I'm hoping that by putting it back in place I'll eliminate that last bit of free play, and take those 'holy crap' moments out of steering. kevin.

Draglink aka center link.

Draglink is 3304 .. 3A130 is the inner tie rod end, 3281 is the adjustment sleeve, 3A131 is the left outer tie rod.

Draglink attaches to 3105 (right spindle) then to 3590 (Pitman Arm).

I know all about those 'holy crap' moments, here's a couple picture of the old rag joint that USED to be in the steering column.

It was one of the first things to go away when I got the truck home.

Hello Number Dummy. That is interesting. I don't see it on the diagram, but there is a part not shown that sits between the center link and the drag link tie rod end. It is a think (1/4" or more) and is shaped like a washer. One side is covered with a metal washer cup. The tie rod end impales it. LMC does not list it, but they do show it.

So far on this thread, Rusty has two trucks that have, and I have one. It does not come with either the center link or the drag link tie rod end. Strange.

Rusty: Thanks for the info. Thats crazy with that rag joint. I've never seen one so bad.
