Hello new truck

Hello new (to me at least) truck. I just got my hands on a 1995 f150 short box standard cab 4x4 with the 302 v8 and a 5 speed manual. Compared to my last truck (86 f150 with the 300 6 and a granny low 4 speed) this is almost a race car. She has some issues, mostly just maintenance that never got done. For the money she cost me ($1000) I feel like I got a good deal. I think I have found most of her problems, the biggest issue so far is my fuel tank leaks and the fuel gauge doesn't work. As I understand the tank leak is a fairly common issue, the straps rub a hole in the tank. I plan on getting another tank form a local yard, I'm thinking about splitting a bike inner-tube and gluing it to the straps to try and keep it from happening again.

I only really have a few questions for the forum, other than the easy to find "nuts and bolts" kind of problems, what other places should I look for issues? and what are other common issues with these trucks?

Thanks for your time.

P.S. I will see about getting some pics her up because, well imo she is a sexy truck

check clutch master cylinder frequently for leaks and check slave cylinder... pretty much the whole clutch system and be ready to replace some of it because my slave went out out of no where... make sure you know where the slave is ( inside tranny, or outside) always check fro leaks inside inspection hole in tranny... that is the only problem ive had with my truck though...

If the straps are tight they do not rub holes in the tank. More than likely it is rusted
