I got a new gas cap for my '63 F100 with the 262 i6, and they assured me that it was the vented type. But after driving, when I remove the cap, it sucks air every time. Does this mean that it's not vented?
I was having these same issues and bought a new "vented" cap from Oreilleys but it wasn't vented to the atmosphere. The one from PepBoys solved my problems.
Thanks. I checked out that thread. So your solution was the different cap from Pep boys? Or the hole drilled?
The Pep Boys cap was well under $10, so I went with that, rather than drilling holes. Not sure how the manufacturer gets away with it but it appears to vent both ways--and completely solved my problem.
