looking at purchasing 2003 X

New fella in the ranks! I own a 97 EB Expedition (love it) and now looking at an 03 EB Excursion. It has 218,00 miles and has the 5.4 engine. My use will be mainly around town, work, hunting and some mild use of trailer pull (a z-mower or JD tractor) once a month or so.
It is super clean inside/out. What are some issues/concerns for this suv based on what usage I'll be doing.. any engine or tranny concerns etc?

Thanks for your reply!
Brian

honestly, many will try to deter you from the 5.4. Depending upon you power wants and needs is going to determine what engine could be the best choice. The 5.4 (at least around here) was the go-to engine for gas powered superduty trucks. If you have a good deep set of gears you will likely not miss the extra two cylinders just running around town. Under a heavy load or lots of hills could be a different story... Good luck with your decision, is 4x4 a need or requirement for your planned use?

There is a buying thread up in the Tech folder. That will answer probably any question you could have. Hit us back up after you take a look at it.

Thanks Flo98 and Immortal Ben for the replies. Regarding power, use will be mainly cruising and the need for a 4x4 isn't a necessity (be great to have though for the 1-3 snowy days we have here in my area). I currently use my 97 Expedition for towing and it has easily met my uses, so the Excursion will gladly take the weight when I decide to mow the yard lol..
