Just bought a 47 1/2 ton from my uncle he bought it 30 + years ago and never got to it. Has no motor or radiator other wise mostly there.
Got the serial number off the frame near steering gearbox.
*b99c 770097*
Firewall and glove box tags are there but not readable currently.
Any info on the serial number and ideas to clean the tags would be greatly appreciated
Need ideas on how to open the doors. Handles are sticking.
Hello, I may have some answers for you. Are you locked out of the pickup? I see that you have seen inside the glove box. This tells me that the window is down. Or, are the door handles just not working smoothly?
The 770097 number is the sequence number that year as far as I know, and the c stands for commercial. The 1/2 ton pickups were called commercial cars back then.
Then the next year they called them Light Duty Trucks. So maybe that is not where the C came from.

Reason: More info
It's a 6, not a b. Lower case letters were not used in serial number stampings, and many of the numbers were specifically stylized like that to prevent fraud from common stamps available.
