FORScan Lite instructions?
Thanks!
FORScan documentation
THe Port Adaptor can be purchased from Amazon. Make sure you get the Wifi One and the one compatible with your Apple or Android Device
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o04_s00
Once you first hookup the adaptor, you will need to adjust the network time out settings so that the adaptor will give you many real time data point reads each second. You want to device to have a response time of 20ms or less
The instructions to do that are here:
FORScan forum ? View topic - Performance fix of china ELM327 WiFi adapter
Credentials to sign into the device through your Iphone Brower:
We have found out that the problem is in a default TCP-serial timeout setting. Here is how to fix it:
Connect ELM327 WiFi adapter to OBDII jack of the vehicle, wait for several seconds until the adapter is loaded
Connect your computer or other device to the adapter over WiFi.
Open Web browser and type address of your adapter to the address string of the browser with ‘http’ prefix, for example:
http://192.168.0.10
Enter login ‘admin’ and password ‘admin’. Note: login and password may be different. If admin/admin doesn’t work, contact your seller for the actual password.
admin/000000
Change the serial framing timeout value from 100 to 1 (not 0!) and click apply.
Make sure the change is applied (after adapter reboot)
You will be amazed all all of the PIDS that can monitored through the device, at least 200.
You can only monitor one PID Group at a time:
Example:
PCM Group
Regeneration Active or Inactive
Distance Since Last Regeneration (only updates at truck restart)
Average Distance since Regeneration
Soot in Grams/Liter: My regeneration normally start at 3.6 g/l and burn down to around .80 g/l
% Soot: Mine goes up to 143% and as low as -18%
DPF Filter Backpressure psi
EGTs (1, 2 , 3 and 4)
EGRC Temps
Oil Temps
Transmission Temps
Coolant Temps
Note on all you can specify the unit: ie F or C
Body Control Module
Real Time Tire Pressure on a 4 (or 6 if dually tires)
Real Time Tire Temperature
Information if TMPS alarm is tripped
Since the PIDS are vehicle specific, there is not a master doc from Forscan that lists them.
You can save the groups of PIDS you want to most frequently monitor
You can view the data as gauges are in tabular or graph form.
You can save data logs and email them back to you in .csv format to load into excel to sort/filter/find
A huge value for a very small investment as compared to the Edge Products CTS that monitors a mere fraction of Forscan and also Edge CTS is at least $425.
Let me know if questions.

As it is, I can use PIDs that are resident on the FORScan program. I'm not sure about what I'm doing, but I have managed to look at a few things. I've seen people list PIDs on this site. Can they just be loaded somehow, so that I can get the same dashboard?
Thanks!
The picture above shows what I am monitoring. Since the 4 EGT Exhaust gas temps are low, you know I just started the engine. The first meter shows it has only been 4.3 miles since the last DEF region completed and the filter shows just 8 1/2 % loading on the filter. The third meter is one I can’t wait to see when it is doing a regen. That is the one that will let me know when the region has completed.
There's a guy with the screen name of blwnsmoke that helped me. Look at post #44 and #50. There you will also find a link on post #50 with detailed info. You'll have to read on for a few pages at his posts.

The FORScan App folks are working on an app for the IPads, but it is not ready yet. Unless you want to just use a smart phone, I recommend getting a cheap Android tablet off of EBay if you don't already own one.
Here's what I got and it works great. I think I would prefer a 10 inch, but this is still much better than a smart phone. Look at page 9 post # 81. F350 Diesel Question - Page 9 - Forest River Forums
If you need more help, I'll try.

You can select as many PIDs as you want, and make them as big as you want using the standard iOS interface - pinch to zoom. If there are too many to fit on the screen, you need to pan to see them all.

In case of iPhone we are limited with adapter choice, because it only supports WiFi. In case of Android you can use Bluetooth. In real world Bluetooth adapters work more stable and have better performance than WiFi ones (no idea why, theoretically it should be vice versa, we believe it is because good WiFi ICs are quite expensive, so everyone use cheap ones).
If you are not going to use FORScan on iOS devices anymore, we would recommend to think on replacing your adapter with Bluetooth one, ideally - with OBDLink MX Bluetooth.

I bought several of the cheap WiFi ones from eBay and Amazon, most of them do not stay connected to WiFi (I am 1 out of 4). Also since they are poor clones of the real ELF, they have slow throughput and often cannot keep up with ForScan.
I bought an OBDLink MX WiFi, these are more expensive but a much more sophisticated implementation. It didn't stay connected either, many reports on the net confirm this is a common complaint. OBDLink says only a small percentage have this problem, so I said, keep sending them to me and I will return each one that doesn't work. On the second one, I got a good one: stays connected for days, very fast, can scan all of the busses not just the CAN, automatically goes into and out of low power mode when not being used, smaller and doesn't hit you in the shin.
