Need Advice

Hello everyone, I need to sell my Ranger but don't know what it's worth. It is an 87 Ranger XLT with the Zimmer conversion package. All I've been able to find is that only 85 of these were made. I found a few for sale online and the owners are asking $5000 + for them. Mine is still original, all the ones I find have a 302 and custom suspension, mine is the stock 2.9l V6 with auto transmission. Power everything, 2wd, extended cab. I have to sell it, I don't know that I can get $5000 but I don't want to sell it at a fraction of its value.

Your '87 is SWEET looking!

Did you buy it new or are you not the original owner?
How many miles are on the truck?
Is it all original - what has been worked on/replaced since new?
How rusty is the undercarriage?
What condition is the drivetrain and interior in?
Are the fender flares in good shape?
Did yours come with the light bar behind /above the cab or bed hand bars?

How do you know there were only 85 built?
Was the Zimmer Conversion Package only offered regionally?
What else can you tell us about it?

A while back, I saw a 26K mile Zimmer Ranger outfitted with a 351W/C4 (!) for sale in TX... I'll bet that could be a handlful!

As far as I know, I am the 3rd owner. The original owner bought it new and the Zimmer conversion package was an extra $4000 in 1987 $, owner #1 I'm told drove it for about 50,000 miles and parked it in a barn for a decade. Owner #2 worked for owner #1 and stumbled upon the truck in the barn and managed to get owner #1 to sell. Owner #2 towed the truck to his home and it sat for a few more years. Owner #2 was getting a divorce when I saw his ad and I bought the truck which started and ran but had 0 lights, most of the electrical was shot. I've used the truck as a daily driver for the last 3 years, I've put another 5,000+ miles on it. Got the wirring fixed (turn signals in the dash cause the whole dash to blink if the headlights are on) the aftermarket kenwood radio that was in it still works. I've put 4 new shocks, 1 headlight, and regular oil changes in the time I've owned it. As far as I can tell it is all original other than the kenwood radio. V6 auto, 2wd, no lightbar and it doesn't look like there ever was one. As for the 85 number I got that from an old ford guy on another message board. He said they converted 85 Rangers and 85 S-10s, I called Zimmer Motors but when they restructured in the late 90s they destroyed the old files pertaining to the defunct Zimmer Motor Van lines. Think I've covered everything, I'm hoping someone on here knows what this thing is worth. Oh and the odometer reads about 56,000 miles but when owner #2 got his title he did not have the truck with him and the dmv put exempt on the title... at least that was his story. Rust is minimal, honestly my 2003 Saturn has more rust, the body is in great shape but could use a fresh coat of paint, interior is clean and seats look new (which helps me believe it really is a 56,000 mile truck.

Ok, just had to put money in the truck. Driveshaft came off. Rebuild and reinstall set me back $250, not too bad.
