Im back

After a break and getting stuck in and finishing some other projects, and painting the house and ,I'm back into the truck with the plan of finishing it and taking it on a trip around Aussie late next year after making the decision to cut the dash and turn it into Right hand drive I wanted to try and keep it as close to the left hand look so, after a lot of marking and head scratching here we go [IMG]

Half finished and painted just to see how it will look

Also filled in the hundred and one holes in the fire wall and give it a paint up as well

Then started stripping out the doors and re-installing vent windows back into them, not that bad a job once I figured out I needed to weld some mounting tabs back in where the P/O had cut out to install the one piece windows

Boy your not wasting any time getting back to it, looks good. Patching holes is one of my least favorite things to do. Im glad your back at it, Im curious as to the right hand drive conversion. Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming.

Nice work. Curious what that hole on the right side floor with the 4 small bolt holes around it is for? I dont think i have ever seen that before.

Dittos here on the good work. I would be very hesitant to try such a mod.

Thanks for all the great comments guys, Jimmy yes I thought long and hard about cutting and converting to R/hand drive but as I wont to use it as a daily driver, and to and from work it will make it easier and safer for passing other vehicle's on the highways / freeways as unfortunately we don't have the luxury of multi lane roads in Western Australia, and getting caught behind slow moving or wide loads can be frustrating , The hole in the floor with the bolt holes is for a steering column lock tube / brace to hold the base of the column in place will post a couple of photos of the set up

Well that was a short lived return ended up doing a double shift and a half 12 days extra, but had three days off this week, managed to get one door nearly completed, refitted quarter windows and brackets after removing the badly cracked one piece windows, started on the door handles and locks but come unstuck when I realised I didn't have any of the original lock mechanisms so out with the old and in with the new fitted up bear claw latches with a door leaver mechanism to use original door handles, making up all the connecting rods, and even managed to fit a door lock using one from my 68 falcon project, modifying the pickup leaver on it to clear the inside of the door, everything works a treat so now to duplicate it for the other door , but dang theres not a lot of room up in there

Finally sat down and finished swapping the dash over, took awhile but have done it, fitted up the electric wipers and fitted a actuator motor to open and close the cowl vent

How do you handle the upside down instrument cluster? just kidding, I'm sure you have a solution to it.

extra long break over Xmas and New Year, but did some more on the dash and nearly finished it off

Still like the idea of an original dash cluster, so this one may be temporary
