It's time for me to change the lower trailing arms on the back of my 2001 Expedition. I know one of the bolts would have to be cut in order for it to come out but I would like to go ahead and buy the bolt ahead of time to have it ready to be installed. I got the trailing arms from NAPA and they didn't come with any hardware. On one of the other forums I saw that the size might be 5/8"-18 3.5 inches long but would like to confirm before I buy it.
Thank you
I've order from boltdepot.com and usually get my order within a couple of days. They're pretty quick with the order processing.
I might have to do that. The size you gave me is in metric...is 5/8-18 3.5inch long an equivalent to the size you gave me by any chance. Fastenal around me has that bolt in stock in grade 8.
Thank you for your help
Is it ok to use nuts with nylon inserts for that application?
Yes, the nylon is there just to help keep the nut from loosening up. As long as a nut like that isn't used on something hot like exhaust, then it is actually better to use one.
Got the lower trailing arms replaced along with the track bar. It did take a while to align the holes on the passenger side for the trailing arm. And I did end up cutting the bolt in half to get it out.
Now I should probably replace the upper ones as well. Are they just as hard to replace?
