The 4R70W is derived from the Ravigneaux plantary design from the FMX transmissions, although it isn't an FMX or C-4 - based transmission. It is a direct descendant of the AODE which is a direct descendant of the AOD although, the 4R70W is a much better transmission than the privious two versions.

I don't have any experience with an E4OD/4R100 but, it may be possible to install one or the other. I do know that the Baumann transmission shift controller I have for my 4R70W will also control the shifting of an E4OD.

E4OD/4R100 trannys are HUGE. I can't imagine how one would fit in a bump truck without a body lift.

I run the AOD and it fills up the tunnel pretty well...
