1978 LB 300cid with C6.... have EFI manifolds, Walker Y-pipe sourced - already got good advice for a muffler but the tailpipe is surprisingly difficult to source. Would like if possible to buy a 2.5" pipe for it... can probably live with 2.25". The old pipe is a whopping 1 7/8" and that seems to be all anyone lists when I check the usual catalog suspects, unless I go to a much later model truck - at which point I am not sure whether a pipe for say a '95 will fit right on a '78. Anyone happen to know a number for a larger pipe that will bolt on OK? (Tried posting a similar request on th Exhaust forum with no response months ago)
I had a '97 F-350 ('92-'96 body) and a muffler back exhaust system from an '87 F-350 slipped right in place, up and over the axle and out behind the rear wheel. Factory hangers and all.
I have EFI manifolds on my 300. Custom built y-pipe into 2.5 single.
I pulled a muffler and tailpipe from a 2010 F150 at the junkyard, paid $50 for it, the muffler fits great, its all 2.5" and mandrel bent. Also has a nice shiny tip
HIO - think we're somewhat on the same page, I want to stick with a single exhaust and like the idea of 2.25-2.5" for improved flow - at the 300's hp any more is probably silly and possibly countereffective. I am just hoping to find something off the shelf, even if from another year, so I could do the work myself (and should be cheaper than having a shop make one.).
