This is a new one on me..I bought this 01 f250 4x4 last year .Been fixing stuff and coming down to the last little things to fix.
Today I was trying to fix the dome lite.the fuse was missing so I installed a fuse and the light worked! Great I thought.Been out for a year and that's all it was....well the light works but works backwards. It comes on when the door is closed and off with the time delay when it's open.
The door was replaced before I got the truck. If that matters.. I took the panel off and cut the wires to the latch and crossed them thinking something was backwards but that didn't fix it. Is there different years that the latch switch works backwards?? Sounds crazy but it's all I can guess at.. Thanks. Jim
How about the other door--Does it work normally from that one ??? It sounds like the switch on the door you're working on is working in reverse. It's possible the Ford changed the operation of their latch switches, but I'm not sure. The answer lies with the other door.
It is possible there is a problem with the retained power circuit. Check out http://circuitboardmedics.com/ . They are members here and will help you determine if it is in the instrument cluster
