Overdrive Switch/button on Gear Shift is Broken

I have 92 4WD, 302 cu in engine with 8 foot bed. The light on my overdrive selector went out, but it still shifts. Sometimes, I have to push the button in 2 times to get it to shift into overdrive or to turn it off.

I looked in the Chilton's Repair Manual, but can't find anything on how to repair this problem.

Anybody have a solution to fix this problem

There's a decent chance it's as simple as fixing a wire inside

Great link....while I do like to throw my business to a site sponsor you can save on shipping by checking your local Autozone, Advance Auto and other automotive part stores. They usually have them in stock.

Overdrive button

Thanks 88XLTLariat. I work at night so sorry for the late response. I sneak in to my internet posts between security tours. So that's the part. I didn't see any screws to take out so maybe it's pushed in or snapped in.

Will find out when I get the new part.

Regards,
Larry

Doorman seems to be making a ton of money on aftermarket parts. Some are not too bad for chinese manufacturing.

Thanks everybody for responding!
