Crisp Shifting E4OD

My 95 w/460 shifts poorly, almost a double shift into each gear as the TC lockout is engaged. On a recent trip towing a 28' fiver the TC lockout came in and out on steep grades, this behavior made me feel very uncomfortable.
I am looking for a solution to the poor shifting quality of the E4OD and wanted to know if any members experienced similar conditions and if they found any solutions that they were happy with.

On a side note the owners manual for my truck says that OD can be used while towing, the exact statement under the towing section reads as follows "If your vehicle is equipped withan Electronic 4-speed transmission (E4OD or 470W) transmission operate in Overdrive) - Page 284.

I've always towed with overdrive off and have had this recommneded by transmission reopair shops. Has anyone towed using OD ?

Chk the towing forum !

But the concensus around here is if the tranny is"Hunting" all the time don't tow in overdrive.

Damage will occur.

You could try a sonnax and tricumulator spring mod. That will firm up the shifts greatly. The tq converter unlocking is normal on hills. Not much you can do there. A tranny guage is a good idea. Don't let it get hot.
