F1 Mystery Part

My truck has two of these. Does anyone know what it is and where it goes? Thanks.

It goes in the lower rear portion of the front fenders.

Thanks Mike. Does it install in the area where the fender, running board, cowl, and lower extension come together? Thanks.

Yes, that is correct. Photo is drivers side looking rearward.

No such thing as a '51 or '52 mystery part . Those are factory splash guards . Once you put them where they go you will see the corresponding attaching holes .These are some what hard to find . Back in the day they were removed for easy under chassis work & never put back since lifts were rare on the farm , ranch . mill & etc.The other case is they hung so low every large hole , tree stump & etc. caught them & bent them beyond repair . Have 2 sets on upay now .The top pair which is on the stock truck is a '52 set .The other 2 sets are '51's .The left side on each set is the same as the '52 right side has more curvature .

Thanks again. Your picture makes sense now that I know its orientation. I replaced the front cab corners and cab mounts on my truck so there are no tell-tale bolt holes. The mystery parts are the last two pieces that need to go back on my front clip. It has been apart for almost a year.

In these pics you can see the scars where the shields were at the lower edge of the cowl.

Thanks Wayne. I know now just where they go. This part of my truck was in BAD shape:

I purchased lower cowl replacement panels and had to sort of improvise the sheet metal for the front cab corner. What I did may not match-up perfectly with the contour of the mystery piece. I wasn't too particular about the sheet metal because it would be hidden by the fender. The black stuff is caulking covering some rather crude welds:

My truck spent its first six winters in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and the next 56 years parked outside in Wisconsin; it is rusty as a result.

Sure do Bobby. My '49 F-2 still sports the left hand one, but the passenger side is gone.

Anyone have a decent right-hand splash guard thingie?
