The free schematics over on bbbind.com will be your friend.

*Suggestion, from a guy who installed the auto dimming mirror and the auto headlights.....if I were to do it all over again I'd use the auto dim mirror out of a late 90's CV or it's Merc counterpart. You get the autodim mirror and the compass instead of the autolamps w/delay off (if you wire them up) which seem to turn the headlights on later than they should. There is a fix for that, but something to think about.

I am lost and need your advice. What is a late 90s CV or it's Merc counterpart. Will these parts work with an 04?

Late 90's = late 1990's and maybe early 2000. If you look at the mirror in the subject cars in JY, you can't miss the compass feature on it.
CV = Crown Victoria.
Merc = The Mercury version of the CV.

The mirror will physically mount to the button on the Ranger windshield after the current mirror is removed. You will have to do the wiring; there are three wires, one of which some people don't use. That wire is hot when the vehicle is put in reverse and is the same circuit that supplies power to the reverse lights. The other two are the ground and hot in run, both of which can easily be tapped into at the headlight switch.

Honestly you can use any auto dimming mirror, they're all pretty similar. I used a GM one out of a Silverado (auto dimming with temp and compass) on my old F250. The pigtail had about 16 wires and I think I needed 3 of them- power, ground, and the wire to the temp sensor. I never wired up the reverse function, didn't see a need for it.

Look at the schematics for the model year vehicle you removed your mirror from. There will NOT be a direct schematic for just the mirror, it may part of a schematic that shows other things too. I suggest looking under driver ammenities and browsing through other schematics until you find it; where to look is reasonably intuitive (ie, it's not under grounds for example).
