a question for woodworkers.

i need to make a small ramp at my parents condo so they can get the walker and wheelchair over the saddle at the front door and out onto the large ramp the VA is installing so they can get out of the house. the saddle is 1 3/4 high. my thought was to cut a 2X6 or 2X8 in half along the wide side going from the 2 inch to 0 along the 36 inch length of the board and gluing it in place with a few dabs of wood glue on the floor.the issue i am coming up with in doing this is the only way i can see to cut the wood is with a band saw or chain saw. and i don't really think a chain saw is going to do it without screwing everything up. and of course i do not have, or know anyone with a band saw.so, my question is, anyone have any ideas how i can do this to get the parents out of the house?

got it figured out!!!the neighbor came over to tell me his brother bought a bunch of new tools for the apartment complex shop. one of them being a 12 inch throat band saw.so off we went to "try it out"worked perfectly after 2 test cuts. i now have a 6 inch and 8 inch wedge to use, whichever one they are more comfortable with.after i made the diagonal cut, i set the table saw to zero and set the fence to around 3/8 inch and square cut the large side so it will sit flush with the saddle.

Tom you can cut the 2x6 with a table saw..

Another option is a threshold ramp.. They make them in aluminum, Rubber and other materials..
