Fail Safe Auto Mode
Has anyone received this error on their F150 before? I've got a 2006 F150 with 80K miles, and the manual said if it happens again to take it to the dealer. When it happened it went to "limp home" mode and barely moved. I simply shut the truck off and restarted the truck and drove off like nothing happened. I really hope it was a glitch, but I fear it's not. It's been 2 days since it happened, and it's wishful thinking to assume I'm in the clear, but I was wondering if anyone had any issues with this, and if so what was the problem?

I just traded my Ford Flex for this very reason. The vehicle shuts 1-2 cylinders off and does NOT allow for ANY driver input except for turning the steering wheel and applying brakes. No throttle response at all. This is twice it has happened and the second time was with my wife in a very dangerous are on the road. I will say that the dealer and service dept are 2nd to none and had the car repaired both times under warranty and were very apologetic and generous in their hospitality. However, this does change my feelings of being safe in a Ford now. Not sure that I will ever buy another one and I was raised on and always have been a loyal Ford owner.
If it happened once, it will happen again. Just hope you are not in an area that will cause an accident when it does.
