Ford service plan/dealership issues
First time posting, long time reader. Great site for info as I am a new owner of 06 F350 CC 6.0.
Anyways, I was 70 miles away from my Ford Dealership yesterday, and the electronic throttle control came on. Called my dealership, they said don't drive it any further, find the nearest Ford Dealership and bring it there. I called Ford's 800' number for assistance and they suggested a particular dealership in NJ. I called the dealership and they wouldn't take me in. I had thought I could bring my truck into any dealership? The truck is still under warranty, I only have 14k miles. The next available appointment was over a month away, I called back to Ford's 800' customer service, and she explained that they couldn't make the dealership take me in, and she was questioning why I was calling back?? The NJ dealership told me it was ok to drive the vehicle with the electronic throttle control on. Who do I believe and is this normal practice?? How long does it actually take to read a code? 15 minutes? I could go to any auto parts store and ask someone to read the code...So..I drove the truck home, and brought it to my dealership and explained the issue. Has anyone else had this issue with a dealership? Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is my 3rd Ford Truck and it will be the last if this is Ford's idea of service.

In my experience, a dealer isn't supposed to refuse or delay you if you didn't buy the vehicle from that dealership, but I do know that they do ... it's been done to me. I bet your "appointment" would have been much sooner if you had bought the truck from that dealership.
Most dealerships though do NOT do this sort of thing, and if you have a drivability issue will try to get you in as soon as possible.
Now, what do you mean by "electronic throttle control"?
I don't have an issue with my vehicle as ALL vehicles have some sort of issue, but I am disappointed with Ford's 800 service as well as the putz at the NJ dealership. Thanks
