Looks like we made it to another Monday. The snow that's falling today might get a chance to stick around, so I'd say it's winter here in Cow-town. Watch out for idiots playing "tokyo drift" on city streets today, I'm sure there will be hundreds of accidents.
Well thanks to all our veterans first and foremost. Other than that the snow should be gone by the weekend and hopefully I can make it home with my trailer and put it away. Just happy I lucked out with good weather for so long. Hope life works out for the rest of you.
Well folks, what does anyone have to tell me today? My kids are sick, and so is my wife, and frankly, I don't feel great either. I've always suspected my humidifier wasn't working quite right, and with a variety of issues between myself and my family, I'd really like this house to be as humid as possible.
Any of you dudes have a digital humidistat (AKA hygrometer) and feel like letting me know what it says inside, and what the temp outside is today?
We're around -8c last night, up to around 4c daytime high, and even with the humidifier cranked, can't seem to get past 30%.

That sucks that you guys are all sick.
It is very dry here so i often run a humidifier in the house.
I like the humidity in the 50s....was -1c when i left the house at 7am. Its humid today so no need to run the humidifier.....nof sure what it is for humidity in kamloops today, but humid....can feel it.
It's funny how some people seem to get sick more often than others. One of my kids is sick with so-called "minor" stuff extremely often. And I've always had a weak immune system. I have heard from several sources that for folks with asthma and respiratory issues, moist air is better than dry, because it allows the body to cleanse itself more efficiently.
I have a humidifier on my furnace, but i don't think it's terribly effective. I run a portable one as well when anyone is sick, so most of the winter as well.
The humidity and pollution index in Vancouver was starting to kick my azz bad enough that I had to move to regain long term quality of life, that's why I moved here. Enough population to maintain an economy, health support is modern and the weather is the most moderate (all things considered) in Canada. Heat makes you a stroke target and cold weather causes heart attacks and you can drown in your sleep. After 3 days of - 25 the sleep apnea sets in, Thats a thrill. lol Keep your lungs on the drier side and aweat the crap out of them, dispose of crap your way. LOL
Mne is a portable humidifier with a control.
When its too dry i get cracking skin, and peeling.
Hard to breathe sometimes and cannot even sleep well.
Neither extreme is good, be it too dry, or too humid.
I grew up where it was very humid.
Moved to where it is very dry.
My parents house has a dehumidifier its so damp.
Yes some of us are very durable as for my self I rarely get sick. As for the new job I got screwed and now I am looking at taking a job in med hat. Just kind of waiting for some of the pieces to fall into place.
Giant tiger had packaged Memphis style slow cooked ribs on sale a while back and I bought 10 packs at $5 each. They're a bit on the sweet side as is, so I clean off some of the excess sauce and remarinate them, not the best ribs but they make for a good snack. Hope the weather holds for awhile.
Got a prop this weekend on a place by Cochrane, it was a u pick berry setup but has been shut down for a year or 2. Not sure if its strawbs, rasps or buffalo and probably dont care, its just an acreage that needs someone to look after it. Known about it for a year or so but its only beginning to be a viable option. Moved off an acreage on 284th by Sheppard into town because of health concerns, there would be enough people around so that may not be a problem.
I've always had more success working for myself than for others Soko, so maybe check out that option. A lot people have a marketable skill set but they hold themselves back as self employment can be difficult if they dont have enough confidence in their abilities. Recessions can be a blessing in disguise, work comes to me, I dont chase it. Funny thing is that I would never hire myself due to my health, anyone who can't work more than 6 hours a day don't belong on the job sites I still take on.
