Howdy, I need to replace the power valve diaphragm. The carb is the autolite 2100. Is there anything in particular to be aware of when removing the carb from the manifold in order to do this?
If the power valve is bad then, I'd figure it also time to rebuild the carb also.
The one thing most all newbies forget to do is push the float hinge pin clip down onto the outer groove of the needle valve housing.
When not clipped down carb will flood over with gas coming out the vent tube.

Power valve shown as 9A565 in pic (center lower below carb). Available by itself or with the carb kit.

2X Rich. Also I would suggest a complete tune up. Usually the power valves don't go out by themselves. A backfire or a Pop back through the carb is Usually what causes it. Autolite 2V carbs are easy to rebuild. Carb kits come with instructions. The clip Rich mentioned is number 9599 in Bill's pic above. Also remember the check ball and weight in Bill's pic top on the page above the venture cluster. Do carbs scare you? Notice my signature.
A. Stick some rags in the intake manifold, and don't drop anything down in there! See sig.
B. In case you have a later carb... Don't soak later 2150 carbs too long in the carb cleaner. Directions are clear on this.
C. Avoid the temptation to 'chase' the passages with wire.
D. Safety face shield is better than glasses when blowing out the passages with compressed air. And blow from the small side to the larger (port towards the body) especially from the venturi.
E. If you are not using the original hot-air choke warmup circuit, you may wish to plug the vacuum passage that is on the underside of the carb.
F. Lots of good advice from the guys on here. You may want to read up.
G. Determine if you need a new choke pull-off diaphragm/hook assembly. These and the power-valve may have gotten stiff over the years. A 6.5 will save a little gas, and 8.5 will be a little perkier. Avoid New Old Stock on these items. Old ones don't like alcohol in the gas.
My $0.02 is worth just what you paid for it. Kevin
