Error Code

I just recently started noticing my gas mileage going downhill, and soon afterwards, a strong gas smell from the exhaust. Now the CE light is on, with code 1150. I believe this to be telling me that the O2 sensor is pretty much missing. To my eyes, it still seems to be there, and the wiring looks the same as it did before the light came on. Any suggestions to fix this problem?

Welcome to FTE!

Don't know what year or vehicle this is for but I can't find a code1150.

If you have material that suggest's the O2 sensor is not returning a signal, it isn't saying it's not physically there. Rather it just isn't operating.

This makes since as far as the reduced mileage. I would just replace the O2 sensor.

Sorry, I guess I did forget the vehicle info. I thought it was in the signature, but I forgot to add that too! IT's a 96 F-150 XLT, with a 302. I figured the O2 sensors are due to be changed, since there's 110,000 miles on it. The code I'm getting is P-1150 from the code reader, but the book that comes with it is pretty vauge about what it is. Just says HO2s. A buddy of mine told me that the 1150 means it can't find it. I also have no clue what side to start on, since I believe there's at least three of them. Thanks again for your help.

Yeah, I would check the connections for corrosion first, but if they are the originals, it will definitely be better to go ahead and replace them. Just make sure you get the correct ones, there are sensors with 2,3 or four wires.

Good luck!

Thx for the info. I guess I'll drop the 100 bucks and replace them. Hopefully it'll fix the problem. I'll post the results when I'm finished. Thanks again!

Well, I did the driver's side, and, low and behold, there was only 3 prongs, instead of 4. So I replaced, and reset the computer. All seems well again, except the gas mileage still hasn't fully returned. Maybe when I finally get the passenger side off(what a pain in the a$$), it'll help. Thanks again for the help.
