Just purchased a 1987 F250 with a 6.9 Diesel. Body is straight, Chassis is straight and clean, interior only needs cleaned and paint is oxidized. Has 3 major problems, The clips holding chrome ring on windshield are rusted away, Power train has issues, wiring harness is burnt up,and trans has no reverse.
Engine sat for two years not ran with no air cleaner on the intake, wiring harness needs replaced, shows signs of engine fire, there is stickers on the valve covers (Motorcraft re-manufactured) and on the passenger side has 6.9 7.3 and 6.0 listed for oil. Even the alt has a reman sticker. Have no idea about a/c or other engine related issues and we didn't start it. But I believe after looking around the engine is a 2004 model and was parked over a bad trans or engine fire. Even the battery cables need replaced. I'll have pictures when I get a chance but I do have the picture from the ad. Anyone have any advice on this truck? Thanks.
First thing i would do is sort the wiring out, see if it runs and how well...that willdetermine if iit's worth continuing to do repairs or if it needs to be scrapped.

first thing i would do is put a big breaker bar and socket on the crank bolt and see if the engine moves or is seized. you can pull hte glow plugs to spin it over easier.

if it spins, run a jumper cable to the starter lug and one from block ground to battery negative. then from up top touch the starter cable to the positive of a battery, see if it spins over decent.

if it does, put the glow plugs back into the engine, fill the fuel filter with trans fluid, run a hot wire from battery positive to fuel shutoff on injector pump. and give the intake a whiff of starting fluid then touch the starter wire to the battery and see if it fires up.

this will tell you if it is worth putting any money into it.
