That motor won't be a direct bolt in. You will need a new fuel system, and use your old wiring harness and most of the old sensors. In all honesty, I don't think you problem will be fixed by the parts that he can use off he 03 motor.
Why not just fix what is wrong? A different motor? That 03 motor's bottom end is NOT as strong as the obs one is. Has anyone even pulled the ipr? Done any testing?
Yes the ipr has been pulled it seems to be fine the o ring is good, I'm putting a new hpop on it see if thats the problem y'all have talked me out of the motor swap lol. One question how bad can blow by get?
How do I check the injectors? This is my 1st diesel I'm new to it all. It runs perfectly fine once it starts up.
Look at my post #24 on page 2, last paragraph. There may be other ways to check the injectors, but the one mention is fairly easy. Plus, it gives you a chance to inspect your other components and maybe replace the glow plugs too.
Note that all injectors should have oil coming from the spouts. You'll be looking for oil leakage around the body. If you find one or some that are leaking, don't remove them until you've read up on that process, as there are a few tricks to doing it right.
Here is a pic of one of my injectors that had bad orings:
Got it diffidently will check that before I replace the hpop, would a bad o ring on an injector cause it to lose power also? I drove the truck yesterday and didn't seem to have any power.
Yes, it could cause low power. I would suggest that you use the Crank No Start Flow Chart.
I like that flow chart quite a bit...its not printed and put in my truck diagnostic file folder. At the bottom right hand corner, I do think it should have another option for injector o-rings. All the symptoms flow down correctly for that scenario just like it were the IPR or HPOP. When I was going through something similar, I read in multiple places where HPOP failure is actually very rare.
Just for fun, here's another link with some helpful information on it: PowerStroke Diagnosis
Thanks guys I appreciate all the help. I'm gonna follow the no start chart and check the injector o rings. Hopefully one of them will clear up the problem.
