Make sure all the fluids are clean, and kept that way, empty the fuel water separator every month, DON'T run out of fuel, keep a bit in the tank, to stop the algy, bugs and crud getting to the filter. Add a fuel additive to the truck once in a while, to clean everything up, and if somewhere that gets cold, you will be better off getting a proprietory additive in the fuel to counteract the phenomenon of gelling.

The tranny needs to kept clean more than other parts, and the power steering pump is cranky if dirty too.

The engine uses the oil in the injectors, so keep that clean, and change it regularly - do not use an oil that is not compliant with the specs in your handbook. Most people use Rotella, which seems ok. ford recommend the Motorcraft oil they sell. Mobil make a few good ones too.

Get a new air intake system, to open up the air going in, and a larger downpipe, at least to let it out again.

That is maybe enough to keep you busy for a while.
