I have a 1988 with a 7.3 idi ats turbo and it won't start.
Put the charger on it for about 30 minutes and starts but once you turn it off it won't start just did all new battery wires and new terminals alternate seems to be fine but I can't find out why its it either grounding it self out or what the heck just got it a week ago and fixing all the kinks. Any thing helps not much of a wire person but I can do it thanks

welcome to FTE.

first thing i would do is disconnect both batteries and fully charge them.

then let the charged batteries sit for 12-24 hours and check voltage at batteries. you may have a bad battery that is killing the other one.

if the batteries check out good, then connect them to the truck with key off and see if you get a slight spark when connecting them. this will tell you you have a parasitic drain killing the batteries. probably a bad voltage regulator.
