Hot start issue

1995 f250 460 automatic. Problem is if you work this truck hard trailer towing. And you shut it off for 10-20 mins when you go to restart it misses dies generally bucks and snorts for a few minutes. I think it is heat soaking. Either the fuel in the rail or some component. So far I have changed plugs, wires, distributor, ignition module. There are no codes. I am thinking of replacing the injectors. If anyone has had this issue and cured it please let me know. Or any ideas, thoughts would be appreciated.

The archives are awash in hot/warm start threads. Heck, there's three currently on the front two pages of this forum now.

Yours does crank quickly, even when warm, but runs rough and quits?

At warm crank, engine control strategy is the same as cold crank, except fuel enrichment is I believe 1/12th of cold crank.

ECT input is considered by the engine control during warm crank, otherwise strategy is "open loop", all pollution controls out of circuit.

I wonder about pollution controls like EGR that were involved in engine function shortly before engine shutdown, and whether they mechanically returned to their "cold start" condition.

Possibly IAC position could be considered as a contributor, others have mentioned evap. canister "leak through" on off cycle bringing fuel vapors into intake.

Maybe you would consider rebuild of the injectors as in the "sticky" at the head of this forum, and also while the fuel rail is off, replacing the fuel pressure regulator.

As a side note my 89' 460 Crew has a minor hot start issue I've had to put on the backburner because of another job on my '89 SC 460 (engines out), so I have an ongoing interest.
