Help! Something stuck in spark plug well 4.6 V8

Hi everyone. My mechanic could not remove spark plug #8 he said there was a washer or something stuck in the spark plug well. I took a look myself but I can't seem to figure out what it is, I don't want to take out the spark plug and have that fall in the cylinder.

I took some pictures so if anyone knows what it is or if its safe to take out the spark plug please let me know. Thank you!

Until you get that out of there, you won't be able to remove the spark plug anyway so there's no worry about it falling into the cylinder.

I can't make heads or tails out of those pictures, but could it be part of a Helicoil from an earlier repair?

Does look like a thin washer. Can you get a pick or a stiff thin wire down there to pull it out?

I tried but the fuel rail blocking the cylinder makes it extremely difficult to get my pick in the right place

Anyone know how to remove the fuel rail in this e250 2007 van?

Take the fuel rail off if it's in your way. It ain't going to move out of the way on its own...

Can't really see if there's something loose in there -- when I did my plugs I stopped at a similar spot and panicked for 3 days.

Here's mine:

Mine's a 5.4, and that is a picture of the half plug that was left in there after the rest of it was broken off.

(you can see the scraps of ceramic in mine, which I cleaned with a shop vac before going at it with the Lisle extraction tool)

The extraction tool removed everything perfectly, even though I could make any sense of what I was looking at.

Update just got it out with a magnetized dental pick ! Now all I have to replace the spark plug.

Project how do I remove the fuel rail properly? I cant get my socket + extension down in the spark plug well as the rail is directly over it.

What size threads and length is those coil hold down bolts. My truck came with none and I am changing spark plugs and coils. I hope nothing breaks off in my plug holes like this. From what I here it is bound to happen though.

Project how do I remove the fuel rail properly?
1. Go to the parts store and buy a pack of injector o-rings first. Do NOT ask me how I learned this...

2. Relieve fuel pressure in the rail.

3. Remove the hold-down bolts.

4. You may need to disconnect the fuel lines from the rail.

5. Wiggle and pull on the rail until either it separates from the injector top or the injector comes out. All of them on that side will probably need to be disconnected in order to move the rail.
