what tires does Anthony run?

Getting close to needing a new set and I thought who better to ask than someone who has the better part of a million miles in the same type vehicle, so I thought I would kick it out here and see if I could find out : Anthony, what is your favorite tire to run and which ones have given the most miles?

I'm not Anthony, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I've also managed fleets of these trucks that saw heavy use, and off road duty on a daily basis. (Oil Field)

If he changed tires 20 times, would you still run them?

I would imagine the miles of hauling he used to do he went thru quite a few sets of tires.
Then commercial use is not a good gauge of tires compared to home use.

From a former tire seller like myself, I will disagree with you! You can look at the commercial results and transfer that data over to a non commercial application as long as you realize that the tire is going to be a harsher ride. The wear, traction, speed rating and whatever else they have data wise now is still comparable. The BFG's are especially comparable apples to oranges. The BFG A/T's are a beast! They are a versatile tire. As a daily driver on a 4x4 you should see 35-40k out of them if they are taken care of properly. Commercially 30-35k if you are loaded heavy or towing locally. Highway towing you will see better life.

Now if you are talking about a full blown f450 and up platform I would say that you would have a hard time comparing tires down to an F250/F350 due to the vehicle weight difference.

Tires are tires! Sidewall plies and weight per tire are the key for our trucks.

You don't want to put a 4 ply tire on a truck that weighs in at almost 9k.

I won't say what tires I used to sell, but they start with Fire and end in Stone. I'm a huge fan of the transforce tires. AT or HT if you don't off-road. Normal use you should see 60k or more. I got 90 out of them on my 2000 gas excursion, but I didn't tow as much as I'm going to with my 6.0. I just put a set of transforce ht's on the 6.0 and I'll let you know when they wear out, haha

Since you brought up Firestone, I have something to share. In the 26+ years of working on vehicles, including 11 years working on a fleet of CC dullies 350/450's, the Firestone Steeltex tire was the only I have ever seen zipper sidewalls if it was ever ran low or ran on the rear flat. They would let go while filling. After the 3rd one all our shops were mandated to fill all tires in the cage.
I saw one let go and throw a 250+ lb man 8 feet, break his glasses, and blow the top 4 buttons off his Dickies uniform shirt. The last he remembered he was at 65psi. If I remember right the sidewall had steel wire reinforcement and it would break the belts inside giving no clue that the operator ran it low or flat until someone filled it then boom. We used up the rest and switched to a Goodyear (low bid).
That was over 12 years ago but that was my experience.
Are they still made like that? I don't know.
It's BFG's for me.

And no, my name is not Anthony either.
Maybe give him a call.

The transforce replaced the steeltex. I never (knock on wood) had a problem with them other than they wore out after about 90k. I expect to get 60k with them on my truck due to trailering more than I did with the Ex, but BFF's are a good all-terrain. If off roaring is what you seek then I wouldn't mind BFG's had them on a bronco (but never had truck tires)

I have the transforce at on my work truck right now and have run them on a few other of our fleet of trucks. They have been really good for us.

Lots of folks here that are for the BFG AT KOs -- well I had two sets delaminate (tread separating from carcass). I've run and loved the BFG ATs for years, but something has changed, maybe it's the French ownership, funny if the same thing happens to the Dodge boys... (now owned by FIAT of Italy)

I went with a USA tire: Cooper -- yeah, yeah, USA this and that... Well these tires are ROUND at their rated pressure and when my rig is fully loaded (BFGs could never do that). I've got Goodyear MTRs on the Jeep, not a huge Goodyear fan (for other reasons), but they are the only other USA tire company...

I'll be interested to see how the Coopers work longer term...

Just my $.02

And I ain't even close to an Anthony
