Went to an Autozone when they were new around here.

Three young clerks. Since it was a 'Grand Opening', they were supposed to make coffee -- none had a clue on how to do it -- they were talking about it, but not really planning on doing anything about it.

One of the guys was supposed to be putting out treats. but he decided to stand around and eat them instead.

I walked up to the counter and showed the clerk the printout I had made from THEIR WEBSITE. He said "aaah the magic of the internet", but he had no clue what he was looking at. I pointed out that it was their part and their part number. After a great deal of fumbling around, he finally located it.

Fortunately they've gotten a little better.

New rant here. ...Guy on clist was looking for a 55-57 Chev over drive transmission.I've got one, we make contact. "oh, I don't want to pay much more than $50" !@#$%^ there are a few listed on clist in the $450-$500 range. I only wanted $125....

 

Craig's List---where intelligence went and died!

Once had a very nice take-out F-Series tilt wheel steering column offered for free---come n git it! A guy called, couldn't believe his good luck---would get with me later that week. He tried to set up a time in advance but it would be 5 days---I NEVER give out my address to anyone from CL without first asking when EXACTLY do they intend to visit.

So this guy calls on a Friday morning---as promised---gets my address and says he's but a few minutes away, works night shift about 15 minutes max from me. Hour 40 minutes later I'm putzing around the garage when it dawns on me ole boy is a bit late. I called, he answers and tells me "somehow missed your street......." and was about 40 miles away now. Instead of calling he simply kept driving around for reasons known only to himself.

Told him to turn around, look for this or that landmark and call me when he spotted one. Once he found those I literally talked him in from about 2 miles on city streets directly to my driveway---which he passed anyway.

Once here he asked again how much I was asking---had to remind him it was FREE! He asked if I'd help him install it right then and there---NOT part of the deal dude!

But as for the Volvo---its long gone and found a new home, not necessarily the scrap yard where it was headed.

And I thought eBay was full of goofs!
