Picked these big truck fenders up when I was visiting my kids last weekend in Seattle. I always scan CL before I head to the mainland jic. They would be nice start on that one ton chassis I found last month. If I set them up with the radiator support on the forward (six cyl) position, they will neatly wrap around that 220 cu in 6 cyl cummins turbo diesel that's been looking for a home. I bet Tinman would say they would be a perfect match to that cab I left behind. Goldarn Craigslist anyhow......
OOOOOOH, even the right color! those are pretty nice, especially for western WA. The matching cab is calling your name Gary.......
I saw them in the bed of a truck advertised on CL when I was in Seattle. The owner didn't want to sell parts but admitted he bought them at a swap meet and later found out they were big truck fenders. I think that happens a lot. Those are the ones I like, so I got them cheap. I'm guessing they came from East of the Cascades where it is dry. Way too dry right now.....
Same trip to Seattle I scored these 7.50x17s on CL. Well they will be delivered on Friday.... 4 courser tractions and one hiway spare in good shape. Were NOS from a small service station and the guy ran them for 500 miles before switching to 16" radials. Buying them sight unseen after getting these pics. Lucky me!
You're making me cry here, Gary! We just got back home from your part of the country, and why didn't I see that CL ad? Glad you scored them if I couldn't. Stu
They were way over in Tonasket, east of the Cascades. Showed up on a search '7.50x17' on Seattle CL. Turns out they are coming to Granite Falls about 1/2 hour away from my ferry dock for Labor Day weekend and will leave them at his uncle's place until I can pick them up. The same trip there were 2) 7.50x16 tractions and 2) 7.00x16 hiways all pulled off a freshly restored vintage truck and also replaced with radials. From the 3 photos you could tell they were basically brand new and the craigslist seller was asking 100 bucks for all 4. I called on Sunday morning and he told me they had been on forever and nobody called so he put them out by the curb with a 'free' sign on them 3 days before. He said he was away from home for an hour and a half at the time but they were still there when he left about 9am. It was an hours drive south, so I asked him if he could call a neighbor to look out the window and check, jic. Well he called back a few minutes later and told me the neighbor said there was only the sign there now. Tires were gone........... Tire collecting has no known cure.
OOps I did it again. Succumbed to a CL ad which turned out to be a relative of my wives. Twisp, Wa, he had 4 jailbar trucks. Ad was stated you had to take all the jailbar stuff or nothing. Two with titles, they are a '46 1/2 ton, a '46 tonner, a '47 1/2 ton panel and a '46 1 1/2 ton. The first two have clear titles. None have engines except a six in the panel. The deal included a running 8ba, boxes of new brake parts for the tonner, along with it's jailbars and trim. New tornels on rear of tonner and michelin recaps on front. A stored and wrapped recovered seat for the tonner. He is keeping the '39 panel for good reason and using the rear doors off 'my' '47 panel so mine is without back doors, but an extra set of panel front doors, a real nice set of pickup doors thrown in. Oh, and a very nice 9' script stakebed he was gonna cut down for the tonner. Also a factory truck cowl with flanges for custom body like bus or etc. Very nice and cool. Plus an extra cab that is pretty rough, and a 1/2 ton front clip which is really pretty nice. I took most of the ugliest stuff today because I was afraid I might not go back for some of it if I got my hands on the tonner first. I dropped my toro 1939 golf course tractor off for a collector along the way and got the cash for this deal. It's over the N. Cascades hiway about 2 1/2 hours east of the ferry dock. The basis for the trip was the 1/2 ton pickup with title to cut to a chassis / cowl to start my truck based woody project. Just so happens now I will have a tonner to maybe put that other cummins in. I might build a copy of a script flatbed or find an 8' box that works. Someone cut off the long running boards. But hey it's almost midnight, been a long day in the mountains. And a long drive home. Looks like 3 more loads. Some parts may be for sale after I inventory. The panel has been on it's roof and it may give it's rear fenders and wheel tubs and other parts to the woody. Will take a lot of sorting. The 1 1/2 ton cab is really nice. could go on the tonner or??? In the white pickup box are a set of really nice 1/2 to pickup rear fenders! ok, signing off zzzzzzzzzzzz
Joe, I agree... I guess you could drive your truck all the way to GB's house. he would even help you mount it!
GB... Good thing you didn't get the fenders I had. Looks like you got several trucks probably cheaper than just paying for the shipping of my beat up fender's...
(B.T.W.... Joe - I'll send you a PM later on the fitting)

Funny thing, my brother in law always said I should meet his nephew who lives in Twisp because he's as bad (good) with old ford trucks as I am. When I saw the CL add for 4 jailbar trucks package I knew it must be him and it was. I have decided to specialize in the jailbars as a hobby/side business. Therefore he's getting my modelAA which I have only driven once. Don't forget my buddies call my place 'Gary's catch and release Garage'. That's when they aren't calling it 'Dysfunction Junction'..... The 4 courser 7.50 x 17s should show up in Granite falls today. One day too late for me to toss them on yesterday.
The jailbars just don't command the big bucks that earlier stuff does. Got most of the load unloaded fter work today. The seat is a beautiful thing. Straight from upholstery shop, wrapped in plastic and maybe wool material, pleated. Not my first choice for a truck, but beautifully done. I'll have to put a towel on it to sit on it. Pictures to come. Scott, I'm blowing up here, but still wish I had that blue cab.
Entering Twisp from the west on highway 20, there's a 1956 Ford C600 wrecker parked next to a repair shop.
In the center of town, there's a 1931 Model AA flatbed high upon a sign, 20' off the ground. South of town, there's a large field loaded with old trucks including an early '50's Dodge wrecker.
There's an AC Mack 'Bulldog' parked in a shed in Brewster along with old farm equipment.
An FTE member owns an old hotel in Waterville WA, has lots of 'yard art' .. old trucks and tractors. Several blocks away is the old Ford dealership building, erected in 1911.
