Is this the tranny in the '11-'15?

 

No. That's the RWD trans intro'd in '97. They have always been trouble even in Mustangs years after Ford intro'd the trans. They require fluid changes every 30k, and sometimes an additive to keep them from flaring between gears. Mine broke the input shaft!

Anyway, not to worry they aren't sold any more and never in the '11 and up Explorer.

 

Thanks. Appreciate it. He mentioned Explorer. I couldnt imagine he was referring to the RWD Explorer prior to our version. I drove a 2000 Explorer RWD 4.0 for 220,000 and never a one tranny problem, but I was a maintenace addict.
