i'm putting a short steering column from a 73 straightdrive into my 71 to put ps. the problem i'm is the wiring on the 73 has 1 exact wire, alsoi have got all my lights wired in but the left turn signals. has anyone have this problem or can help. thank you all's for your help and support
Don't know if this is what you are looking for, I installed a 76 column in my 66 with the matching Saginaw gear. I ID the wires downstream, then ID the new wires by function and mated them up. You might make a map on paper. Get the horn out of the way first, so it doesn't blow when you mash the brakes. Oh You may also have to add a ground wire around the rag joint connection for better horn connection. Mine was part time at first.
You will need a circuit tester and in about an hour have it all worked out.
o.k. thank for the help. now tothe next problems. i got all my turn signals,i have back-up lights, igot 4way except rt. rear isn't working and don't have brake lights.all bulbs are new and i have check the power to the rt. rear ,got power for turn signal but not 4 way, is this the same wire, the one on the left side is. also i have a yellow/black tracer wire coming off connecter from key that also has a wire to wiper, this yellow/ black is just hanging. can anyone give idea...
Wally, The brakes and turn signal share the same wire and bulb filament. Tails and backup are on separate wire. It can be a head scratcher but usually simple.
