I think the drive on gate would be a limiting factor on vehicle transport.
The deck is 7x16, axles are each at 3500 pounds, with brakes; its' weight is 1500# so that leaves 5500# for payload. I liked the higher sides (2 feet) with the metal screening, which added to the final cost.
History (seeing as though you didn't ask). My previous mower deck was 42" and so always fit on the original 4x8 trailer. Then I bought a second garden tractor with a 54 inch deck. That's what got me to looking for something wider.
Well the optimum size I found (Lowes) was a 5.5 x 9, but it was $1300 + tax. Then I went to a nearby plant that specializes in building trailers and found their prices (and/or specs) readily beat what I had previously seen. After pricing their numerous sizes, features, etc, I selected this one. Yes it's overkill for just a garden tractor - but I've often been tagged for furniture moving duties, and I expect that'll continue; AND the price was right.
Total out the door was $2200, and I got $500 (private sale) for my 13 year old trailer.
I just realized that I posted an error, the spare tire (and mounting bracket) were an additional $130 and was not included in my $2200 out the door price.
That looks like a nice useful utility trailer. However, I doubt it's wide enough (even without the high sides) to haul a car on. Well, maybe a "smart car"...
Just this evening I now realize I made a major mistake in selling my little one. In the past I've tagged it to my woods tractor (deere x540) for use in cleaning up the woods; this new trailer is way too long for that duty.
Live and regret.
You had me confused there for a moment - then I realized by my using the term "tagged" (instead of tethered/tied) for woods cleanup use you likely thought I meant registration tags. Nope.
As for registration costs I was able to transfer the prior plate (($15) to the new trailer for $2.51.
Got some quotes today ranging from 500 all the way to 2500, this is with the oe 6797 paint code aka Dark Tourmaline. I really like the quality on one shop that quoted me 1500. He drives an El Camino and the quality and body work is flawless. I think i might go with him. Any ideas if i should go custom tailgate or just get a new one.
Im also planning getting new head lights(clear or smoked not sure yet), front and back bumpers(this will be chrome and stock) and new grill and headlight bezels( chrome and stock) why mess with something that makes our trucks look classic and desirable
I was concerned about where to park this thing, so far it's been in my front yard. I knew that between it and my truck there wasn't enough physical room to turn it around in the rear yard.
I didn't know if this tractor would get enough traction (sand/soft soil/grass) to move this 1500# unit, but it did. Problem solved.
