94 f250 w the turbo idi. Put a new(used) gas tank to replace the stock one that was falling apart. Right away the truck would start, drive then get a big burst of power and die. Ok, got air. Did the valve on the fuel filter, it's getting straight fuel finally, cracked the front 2 injectors, one each bank, fuel finally, but it takes forever to start and if it does, it stumbles and dies. The tank is on the ground w clear hoses to what's going on w that but looks fine. I'm not sure what I'm missing.
How much fuel is in the tank and what shape was the sending unit in? If your pickup tube lost the little black bowl then you cant get fuel under a quarter tank. If you have a piece of rubber hose without a relief cut then the hose can suck to the bottom of the tank and cut off fuel.
Finally figured it out. The pick up tube in the tank (wrong name I'm sure) had a crack towards the top. Got a new one and fixed the problem. The crack wasn't big but I went over every step and after a few hours, finally found it
